Woolfolk is CRMC’s June DAISY Honoree

Coffeyville Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Chelsea Woolfolk as the June 2023 DAISY Honoree.  Woolfolk was recognized for her professionalism and confidence in her role working in the ICU.

DAISY Honoree: Chelsea Woolfolk, RN
Department: ICU
Nominated by: a patient

I went into the hospital for two scopes: A colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. Unfortunately, I ended up being hospitalized for severe aspiration pneumonia with respiratory failure. I required ventilator assistance. I was in ICU for five days and did not think I was going to make it. Chelsea was one of the most compassionate people that I have ever met. I appreciated her healing words and kind touch. She is a big blessing for CRMC. I wish her all the best. Also, Dr. Kolette Smith for saving my life. I am asking the lord to bless this nurse and doctor.

BEE Honoree: Cammy Smith
Department: Primary Care Clinic
Nominated by: a patient

Cammy is the most pleasant front desk attendant I have ever had help me. I recently moved to Kansas from California and my mom needed help with a doctor’s appointment to establish care. Cammy went above and beyond to help us and was so kind. It feels like a family member when she talks to us. She always has the biggest smile and words of encouragement.

Keleher is May 2023 Bee Winner

Coffeyville Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Samantha Keleher in Utilization Review as the May 2023 BEE Honoree.  She is recognized for her hard work and helping others.

I would like to nominate Kim Knight for the Bee Awards for her continued demonstration of amazing customer service and for showing pride in her work. Kim is always inviting and friendly to all who enter the cafeteria – from early morning breakfast to serving us during lunch. Even when the crowd gets large and sometimes rowdy, she handles the situations with grace and kindness. Recently, the cafeteria received an amazing gift of grant dollars to purchase a new cooler and salad bar. Kim immediately began work on showcasing all of the department’s fine food in the new cooler – making everything look so inviting and good! The salad bar is always kept very neat and clean and it too looks amazing. I know that the cafeteria is a team effort and I applaud them all for their hard work and team efforts. Nevertheless, I believe it is necessary and very much appropriate to call out Kim for going the extra mile and making us all have a better day by always being a bright spot we see first thing in the morning.

Thank you, Kim!

Campbell Recognized For Exceptional Nursing at CRMC

Coffeyville Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Brandi Campbell as the April 2023 DAISY Honoree.  Campbell was recognized for her professionalism and confidence in her role working in Acute Care.

I would like to nominate Brandi Campbell RN for the Daisy Award. Brandi truly went above and beyond while taking care of my mother-in-law. I am a nurse myself so I had many questions. Brandi took the time to answer all of our questions and explained them in a way my family could understand. My father-in-law can be a handful; he often shares information that is not appropriate. Brandi just rolled with it and was always very pleasant. I have tried to think of a word to describe how Brandi treated us. Amazing is not a big enough word to describe her treatment of my mother-in-law as well as our family. We just want her to know how much we truly appreciate the care and compassion she provided to all of us! Thank you so much!

94-year-old twins reminisce on 4 decades of volunteering at CRMC

COFFEYVILLE, Kans. —A pair of 94-year-old Coffeyville twins have volunteered at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center for the last four decades. Laudine Luhn and Florene Carnes volunteer at the front desk every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Florene started volunteering in 1977 after her parents got sick and spent time in the hospital.
She wanted to give back and has been doing it ever since. “To put on my uniform every Wednesday morning and I think, oh, I’ve been doing this for forty-five years,” said Florene.
The hospital CEO, Brian Lawrence, says the twins are a blessing to guests and staff. “I bet ya we’re the only hospital around with 94 year old twins,” said Lawrence. “Our patients are blessed by them. Our staff is blessed by them. I cannot think of a better representation of our organization and what we strive to be that’s what we’re trying to do is make people happy and keep them here instead of going out of town to other hospitals,” said Lawrence.
Laudine joined her sister about ten years later when Laudine retired from the bank after 35 years.”We do everything together,” said the twins. The twins also volunteer at the Salvation Army and go grocery shopping and attend church together. “I call her every morning at 10:30 and she calls me every night at ten so we check on each other,” said Florene. A year ago, their doctor told them to stop pushing patients in wheelchairs. “We still push them sometimes. It’s not work to us.
We just thank the lord every morning and every night for getting us through the day and that we’re able to be with each other, god has certainly blessed us. He really has blessed us,” said Florene.
